Mother decides its time to go
By Roy Huxtable
I've lots of memories of St Thomas but the bit that sticks in my mind is the Blitz. We lived in Kerswill Road; myself, two sisters and my mother. I vividly remember the Blitz. I was five years old. Father was a long way away... We had survived several bad nights sitting in the shelters. Then after one very bad night, a very bad night, Mother decided it was time to go. We went up to Grandmother's in Lynton, in North Devon.
The very next night the house went. It was one of a row of four houses and they all came down. That was the night after we moved.
