Garton & King was the iron and brass foundry which moved to Tan Lane, Marsh Barton, in the late 1930s. They also had an ironmongers store in the city centre. There are still plenty of examples of Garton & King ironmongery to be seen set into local streets. The cast iron stop-cock cover is believed to have been made at Garton and King's works. It was placed in a pavement, allowing access to domestic water supplies.

Did you work for Garton & King? Perhaps you were active in a trade union for foundry workers? Share your memories on this site...

There is also quite a lot about about Garton & King on the Exeter Memories website.
