Dancing West of the Exe

Happy memories around Cowick Street
By Kathy Postlethwaite

I have spent nearly every Saturday morning and many Monday and Tuesday evenings for more than three years in and around the Methodist Church in Cowick Street, St Thomas waiting while my two daughters have had ballet and tap lessons with Susan Dukes School of Dancing.  We often enjoy going to the coffee mornings held on Saturdays in the front of the church, buying homemade cakes and secondhand childrens books.  We have also enjoyed sitting while the children and their friends play in St Thomas Pleasure Ground after their lessons.  It is especially good when the paddling pool is open in the Summer.  We also enjoy the shopping centre in Cowick Street where everyone is friendly.  We have enjoyed these amenities even though we live on the other side of the river!
