RAMM Volunteers in Exwick on 21 February 2008
Explore Ancient Egypt and Hear WW11 Stories
By Julia Paci, Volunteer Coordinator
RAMM volunteers will be out and about during the February half term.
On Thursday 21st February, 2 special events will take place at the Old School Hall, Station Road, Exwick.
The world of the Ancient Egyptians will be explored from 10am - 12pm
There will be a variety of activities based around the Ancient Egyptians. This will include a mummification session at 10:30am. Following on from the mummification session will be an illustrated talk about the Life of the Pharaohs, featuring information about the main archaeological sites in Egypt.
A World War II session will take place from 2:30pm - 4pm RAMM's WW2 team will be talking about their own wartime memories and demonstrating a range of fascinating objects. The event will include the "Blitz Experience". Come along and find out what life was like in Exeter during the Second World War .
What makes this event really special is that the volunteers have stories to tell from their own wartime experience. As one visitor commented on the last Open Day, "the personal stories make it more memorable."
Both morning and afternoon session are open for drop-in visitors. Visitors of all ages welcome and both activities are free.
