Victory roll for Doris

Doris remembers a young world war two pilot who spotted her in the garden

Doris' earlier home, east London

An encounter with a Spitfire
As told by Doris Simons with sound editing by Daniel Cray

Doris is sharing her memories as part of the Age Concern West Exe group. She moved to the St Thomas area to be close to her daughter, but was originally brought up in London. Hear Doris's account of some unexpected RAF aerobatics during the Second World War.

As you get older you're forgetting things. This is a treasured memory. I'm happy to share it with the younger generation. Doris Simons (her maiden name)
