An exiting and unique production
Amelia Best, The Ivy Project
The Ivy Project has brought together a group of young people to make a short film, to show what it is like for a young person to live in Exeter and the West Exe area at this time.
The idea of the film arose when some of our young volunteers approached Ivy Project staff in regards to learning new skills and techniques in film making.
"We are keen to promote ways for young people to make positive contributions in the community so we all just kept talking until the idea became a sound project proposal" said Amelia Ivy Project Worker.
With financial support from the Living Here Project and ECC's Group Initiative Scheme, and inkind support from the Phoenix Arts and Media Centre, the proposal became a reality.
The aim of the project was to offer volunteers a chance to put their experience of being a young person onto film using a blend of reality and fiction, reflecting their understanding of the transition from children into adults.
It's been a tight schedule, from the 11 March the volunteers have completed four skills workshops, then additional days starring, filming and editing ready for the film's premiere on 28 April 2008 at The Phoenix Arts Centre.
