Bringing local memories to life
By Sarah, Curator of West Exe

Two curators from the Royal Albert Memorial Museum are enjoying conversations with elders from the West Exe Day Service. Madie, one of Age Concern's volunteers, joins us too. She has a real gift for getting us going. Even people in the group with quite severe memory loss have interesting tales to tell once we all get chatting.

Some of the memories we share round a table in the cafe are gradually being added to this website. By recalling their earlier lives in this way the group are helping to make history for future generations.

To read some of these memories go into the 'West-Side Stories' part of this site, for example: John's memories of India, Ron's memories of peace and war, Doris encounters a spitfire.
