Exwick Cemetery at the top of the hill so the view is clear and the CHORUS can see all the way to the River Exe. The CHORUS move slowly but in unison as they speak to make a small rhythm throughout the dialogue.
CHORUS Up here
On the rooftop of the West Side
We are the guardian angels
Of the dairy farm by the Exe
Daisies and buttercups velvet the ground
Birds float in the sky
Content once more
Ravens and Crows rustle trees
Arguing over branches
This is the charge of familiar sounds returning
Replacing the sound of bombs
That shuddered through the night
Everything changes
Even here where there are old mossy tombstones
And gates that creak
When you swing them open
But there is no denying
We are covered in shadows
Of what has passed
Of what might come
This is a massive world
In search of peace
The CHORUS make a series of gestures that signify peace. Music kicks in to start the next scene.
