SCENE 3 Skating on ice

An extract from 'West Side' (Living Here Play Number 4)
Written by Natalie McGrath

In collaboration with Hannah W, Gary S, Stephanie H, Emma B and Sam J at West Exe Technology College.

They become the CHORUS once more and find a rhythm to the dialogue and have a more frenetic series of gestures and movements to accompany it this time.  A contrast to the opening.

We live Here

Within earshot of the Exe

The artery that divides us

The heart that brings us together

This is where we shine

Bonny and free

Laughing at sayings like

"Children should be seen and not heard"

Its like doomsday

To our ears

So we run in fields

Until our hearts burst

Pinching apples from trees

Smelling the smell of sweet cut grass

Escaping amidst it all

Enjoying who we are

Dreaming

Full of hope

For the future

We charge towards the River

Which has amazingly frozen over

It is a miracle

Finishes with an Ice Skating routine on the River Exe which has frozen over.  Oh and some music of course!
