Taking a walk around the school locality

Arrange to take the children on a walk around the local area. Look at features of the area e.g. river, railway, local church, historic buildings, local housing. Look for anything that gives a date or use of building and also unusual features/style. Take photographs to plot the walk.
Either during this walk or an additional walk focus on the workhouse site (or something special in your area which you have already spotted on the maps).
