"Natural Reflections" Autumn

The Exeter Canal
By Rowena Jay
Photo:" 'Natural Reflections' Early Autumn on the Exeter Canal" – While most of the trees were displaying their gold autumn colours it was the stunningly very deep gold of the trees in the background that caught my eye. The reflection of the pastel coloured light clouds in the foreground added to the over all tranquillity of the scene.
Photo:" 'Natural Reflections' Golden Reflections" – The same trees that appeared in "Early Autumn on the Exeter Canal". I was so stunned by the colour I just had to zoom right into them.
Photo:" 'Natural Reflections' First signs of Autumn" – Once again the lovely blue water attracted me along with the addition of a little white fluffy cloud. The first signs of Autumn can just be seen in the reflected yellow tops of the trees.
Photo:" 'Natural Reflections' Late Autumn Afternoon" – One of the rare times that I took a "Natural Reflections" photograph at the end of the day. I wanted to photograph the line of trees when the sun was shining through them from behind. From the brown/yellow and black coloration a feeling of colourful Autumn moving into the darkness of winter is achieved.
Photo:" 'Natural Reflections' The Blues" – The sunrise at this time was very bright and I had to take care of my camera lens while taking this photograph. I could not resist the bright background and deep blue foreground alone with the last of the golden Autumn colours and strong reflections.
Photo:" 'Natural Reflections' Yellow Tints" – The early Autumn colours were reflecting so beautifully in the still water and the overcast sky gave the canal water a grey Autumn like feel.
Photo:" 'Natural Reflections' Tunnel Vision" – Nature had provided me with a perfect tunnel, which relected so deeply into the blue water.
Photo:" 'Natural Reflections' Blue Waters" – The trees just showing the first hint of Autumn gave me a lovely line of reflections. The clear blue sky reflected well in the water giving it a wonderful blue coloration.

My work on my photographic "Natural Reflections" theme is mainly carried out in the very early hours of the morning. At this time of day the water of the Exeter Canal is very calm and at its most "mirror like" producing the most wonderful "Natural Reflections". The captions that I have written with each photograph describe the beauty that I saw in each scene and why I took the picture.
