This exhibition at the Guildhall will showcase the marvellous range of contributions that local people have made to RAMM's Living Here... West of the Exe initiative.

Contributions to this exhibition range from personal stories and family research to new plays, films and publications. A range of people and organisations involved in Living Here projects will be on hand from time to time in the exhibition to share their stories and advice. See programme below.

Programme of Events

7 APRIL Small Victorians 1.30 - 3.30pm
Join The Westexe Children's Centre and RAMM in the Guildhall to make Victorian costume dolls and try on replica Victorian costumes (for children and adults!).

8 APRIL Tips for exploring the local history of your village or neighbouthood
Rowena Jay, contributor to the Living Here Project, will be on hand to give advice about how to go about exploring the local history of your village or town, based on her own experiences of researching the history of Alphington. A large selection of Rowena's collection of Alphington photographs will be on show, illustrating her research.

9 APRIL Researching your family history
Come and find out more about the Westcountry Studies Library and the services on offer which include maps, illustrations, early newspapers, parish cuttings files and help researching your family history.

15 APRIL Landscapes, flora and wildlife photographs
Display of photographs by West Exe photographer, Rowena Jay. See a selection of her landscapes, flora and wildlife photographs. Rowena will be on hand to give tips on how to compose photographs and to give advice about photographers' rights and some basic rules to follow. Come along and be inspired to take some photos for the 'Living Here' website!

16 APRIL Original documents from the archives
Brian Carpenter, an archivist at the Devon Record Office, will present a range of priceless original documents from the archives of the city and of the parishes of Alphington, St.Thomas and Exwick.  He will also be available throughout the day to answer any questions relating to the history of the West Exe parishes and to advise visitors on their research.
