Armour in the RAMM collections
By Sarah, Curator of West Exe
At the time of the English Civil War, Exwick was not part of Exeter. Parliamentarians (Roundheads) used Exwick as a base outside the walled city for a while.
During the war there was a real shortage of armour so people found whatever they'd got and often reused quite old equipment. That is partly why the helmets and other armour come in all shapes and styles.
