A great way to learn new skills
By Hazel Craddock, Xcentre Manager

For sometime now individuals and organisations have been asking how they can access the Xcentre resources and whilst I am by nature a 'can do' person this has not always been easy.  The majority of the programmes that we run have been specifically funded and mostly for young people in the 16 to 25 age group.

Recently I applied for funding through the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and I am delighted to say that we have been successful. This funding is aimed at informal learning for adults. If your age over 19, for the next six months we will be able to offer FREE Xcentre membership to you. This means you can come in and use the centres resources in a way that you choose. There will be a tutor and learning mentor here to help you, and make the most of the facilities offered.

We will open 20 hours a week including some evening and weekend options.
·         Learn what you want
·         Learn when you want
·         Learn how you want

If you have not visited the centre we have:

    A training kitchen
A six station PC suite which will also have three new Apple MACs
A large meeting room which is available for individuals or groups to use within the Agile Learning Programme
A multi media suite, including the latest sound recording software and equipment.
More apple macs and lots of interesting software for film and photography.
    Electronic drum kit, electric guitars.
The Agile Learning programme is supported by a bank of learning tutors and learning mentors.
We have a small 'outreach' fund and so if you are a group or organisation that might benefit from a visit by one of our tutors please contact myself or another member of the Xcentre team.

If you would like to get involved in this fantastic programme or would like more information contact Hazel Craddock, Mike Hylton-Smith or Jackie Lambert on 01392 435612 or email info@x-centre.net
