Rowena Jay's photo 'Church Road and Devonia Terrace evokes many happy memories of Alphington. The second house looking right to left was Number 17 Devonia Terrace, where I was born in 1935 and my sister in 1939.
The corner house was the village Police Station. Over the front door was a plaque worded Devonshire Constabulary. There was another Police house further towards Cross View which housed the Ide Policeman. The road leading into the Trading Estate was then a green where we children played. Beyond the green were meadows as part of Marsh Barton Farm. Sadly no more.
It would be nice to hear from those who like me have memories of Alphington.
